Joshua

My little baby arrived today.

So soft, so warm, so cuddly.

“It’s a boy.” They yelled,

as tears of joy filled my eyes.

He was placed in my arms, all wet and slippery.

The cord of life was cut, the afterbirth delivered.

He was washed, weighed, printed, measured and tagged.

“He’s all mine.” I thought as he was placed in my arms once more.

“My beautiful Joshua, is all mine.”

One Response to Joshua

  1. How beautiful Joan! I so relate as I relived my 3 children’s births through your eyes in this poem! Awesome! What a gift of God to you. And to have a boy named Joshua! In the Bible, Joshua is one of my favorite characters. Infact, I sometimes call him my “buddy.” Did you know his name means:”Jehovah is Salvation.”
    Bless you dear mother…hischildorothy
