The Race For The Bone

While living in DC with my two brothers and two male cousins, we were in the basement as usual and the door was locked. Our German Shepherd, King, was with us. We were watching TV and I don’t remember what we were watching. I could hear the door to the basement being unlocked and my father threw bones and garbage at the top of the stairs for King.  I saw King running up the stairs but there was a lot of rumbling and other noises that followed. My oldest cousin had ran up the stairs too and actually beat the dog in gaining access to the garbage and bones that was at the top of the stairs. King was deeply disappointed and sat there as if a morsel would fall his way. After my cousin devoured all of the garbage, he gave King a bone that was devoid of any meat.  I was shocked and my father even stood there and watched with disbelief. My cousin acted like he had never been fed and he ate all meals with us. Why would he deprive King of his scraps?
